"If I could vote, Bobbie Beth Scoggins would have my vote for the presidency. She has already proven her leadership abilities and strong commitment to the NAD via her NAD Board service the last two years."
Nancy Bloom Rarus
NAD Secretary and candidate for second term
As President of the Kentucky Association of the Deaf I am pleased to provide my endorsement to Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins as the next President of the National Association of the Deaf.
I was a member of the search committee assigned to identify the next Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf. Among those interviewed was Dr. Scoggins. She displayed such passion for improvement in the lives of the Kentucky deaf population she made herself the obvious first pick. She began in 1993 on her first day on the job by tackling the very most challenging issues facing us in Kentucky.
I must note that Dr. Scoggins is especially adept in bringing together a diverse group of interested parties and lead them to work together on one common goal.
Dr. Scoggins will serve us well as President of the NAD.
J. Kevin Martin
President, Kentucky Association of the Deaf
"Bobbie Beth Scoggins astutely recognizes the need for the Deaf community
to continue its fight for civil rights and social justice. For instance,
last February, she did not hesitate to participate in Vagina Monologues
performance, donating her theatrical talents to fundraise funds for
battered Deaf women and children at DeafHope. SHE CARES! Additionally,
the main ingredient I observed in her excellent leadership is the deep
level of respect she promotes for diversity within our Deaf community.
Bobbie Beth Scoggins is the person NAD needs as our next President,
navigating the Deaf community into the newly defined generation."
Julie Rems-Smario
DeafHope Executive Director
"Together" and "Forward" in Bobbie Beth's "Together, we can move NAD
forward", have special meaning and I am speaking from the years I have
known her. When I was the President of GLAD during the early 1990's,
Bobbie Beth was the Vice President and as a team we were instrumental in
GLAD's rebuilding and restructure. It had to be done because she saw
the future. If you compare the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard
of Hearing today with what it was when she joined in 1993, you will see
a different organization. The same holds true when she was the
President of USADSF. It is all about working together and looking at
the big picture. As President of NAD, Bobbie Beth will move NAD forward
into the future and it will be done together with the members of the
board, staff, and the community.
Mark D. Apodaca
Former Treasurer and Vice President of NAD

experience in 1972. From that time forward, she has exhibited

the diverse constituents of the NAD. It is with great pleasure that I
support and endorse her for NAD President.

"After having observed how active Bobbie Beth Scoggins has been involved in the NAD work, I have concluded that she would be an ideal successor to the current NAD president. My first reason is that she is quite fluent in ASL and written English which is not necessarily a requirement but a great asset for the president position. My second reason is that she is flexible enough to accept diversity within the deaf and hard of hearing population. My third reason is that it should be easy for anybody to work with her simply because her patience and tolerance are great. I urge the CR delegates to recognize her excellent capacities."
Dr. Yerker Andersson

Barbara Jean "BJ" Wood

"Our paths have crossed a good number of times since her days at CSUN in the mid-to-late 1970's. Whenever our paths crossed from time to time, Bobbie Beth assumed more and more leadership roles/responsibilites as she moved on over the years. In that sense, Bobbie Beth has not only faced hard knocks of leadership but also gained a wealth of leadership experience. Clearly, it is not an overnight phenomenon when it comes to Bobbie Beth's experience in leadership. Today Bobbie Beth is a bona fide leader and is ready to lead the NAD if the members choose her to be at the helm for the next two years."
Larry Fleischer
USA Deaf Sports Federation President
